As we scream towards the end of Period 4, "Baseball Prospectus" alum Mike Gianella took the weekly honors over Cycle 3 with 140.5 points, though Andrea Lamont and Todd Zola still hold the keys to Golden Ticket time with Mike's strong finish only being good enough to push him to seventh overall this period.
Gianella rode Chris Sale (31.9) and Aaron Nole (31.55) but had trouble distancing himself from Andrea and Todd, who also milked the same hurlers en route to the pair finishing second and third respectively this week. But the duo does hold the top two overall slots with 455.5 points (Zola) and 413 (Lamont).
Zola again flexed his dominance muscle at DFS, finishing in the top-3 for the third straight week, while Andrea has finished among the top teams twice over her past three attempts.
Also worthy of note is USAT's Steve Gardner, who finished the week in fourth place with 128.7 points, placing him third overall for Period 4 with 392.5 points. Additionally, though still down in the cycle's overall rankings at 13th (323.6), Jeff Boggis managed his second straight top-5 week after earning his Ticket to the finals Period 3 with a solid 442.6 points.
Period 4 concludes this week, leaving just one more shot for the Touts to hit the final come August.
For the archivists, the Touts play a daily game against one another every Friday at DraftKings. Lord Zola is the curator of this fine mess, which breaks the season into five four-week cycles, with the two teams garnering the most points over each advancing to a final championship that includes the Tout collecting the most points over all 20 weeks.
Remember to go to the Tout Wars site for our Friday picks. And, tune into the Tout Wars Hour on the FNTSY network, hosted by me, with Justin Mason and featuring Lord Z every Thursday night at 9 PM ET.
