My mate and partner Todd Zola might have been slow out of the proverbial Tout Wars DFS box, particularly over the first period in April. However, since that point, Z has been beyond dominant, finishing in the top five in six of the past eight weeks. This past Friday, he crushed the field with 170.55 points, besting second placer Phil Hertz (140.7) by a hefty margin.
Fueled by Bryce Harper (34 points), Josh Bell (27) and Robinson Cano (23), seven of the ten roster spots Z selected earned ten or more points, which is indeed a remarkable return.
In finishing second, Hertz was also able to exploit the combo of Harper and Cano along with James Paxton (28.5) while Charlie Wiegert finished a distant third with 128.75, also via Harper, augmented by Buster Posey's 21-point Friday.
Overall, that leaves Todd ahead for Period 4 with 320.6 points (note Todd already has one Golden Ticket having blasted the field in Period 2 with 532.35), followed by Phil with 289.5 points while Rotolady Andrea Lamont holds third place with 275.75.
Week II commences this Friday as the group jockeys for tickets to the final tourney. You can check the standings here. Log into the site every Friday and we each provide a couple of picks we like for the evening.
For the archivists, the Touts play a daily game against one another every Friday at DraftKings. Lord Zola is the curator of this fine mess, which breaks the season into five four-week cycles, with the two teams garnering the most points over each advancing to a final championship that includes the Tout collecting the most points over all 20 weeks.
Remember to go to the Tout Wars site for our Friday picks. And, tune into the Tout Wars Hour on the FNTSY network, hosted by me, with Justin Mason and featuring Lord Z every Thursday night at 9 PM ET.
