With another week in the books, I feel good about the picks I made last week, but bummed that though my selections seem logical--even validated by others making the same picks, such as Justin Thomas last week--and yet they fail. So, the other real issue seems to be simply knowing the field of players like I do the baseball population.
This week, the tour moves to The Old White TPC, which is indeed a longer venue, featuring 7286 yards over the 18 holes at White Sulphur Springs, in West Virginia, so I looked at the hitters who were most efficient at hitting the green from 200 yards out, and worked from there.
Remember that you can match up against me at the DraftKings Weekly Hybrid PGA.
Phil Mickelson ($10.400): Phil is just a personal favorite, always consistent, and is coming off a break, having not played since before the U.S. Open nearly a month ago. He is averaging 70.3 fantasy points per week.
Russell Henley ($9100): With a 57.8% success rate hitting the greens in regulation from 200-plus out, Henley has accumulated that number over 103 holes while making 11 cuts over 14 tries this season.
Sung Kang ($8600): Kang had a big week last week, finishing in a tie for fifth at the Quicken, so I am sticking with the hot hand who has made 14 of 19 cuts.
Geoff Ogilvy ($8000): Ogilvy ranks fourth at greens in regulation with a 56.36% success rate over 110 holes, though he is hit and miss with just nine cuts made over 15 chances.
Stewart Cink ($6900): Cink ranks ninth to the green with a 54.24% success rate over 118 holes making 13 of 18 cuts.
J.J. Spaun ($6500): Spaun ranks fifth getting to the green with a 55.88% success rate over 102 holes with ten cuts made in 16 tries.
Do remember to keep fantasy open and regulated and fair for all by writing your local lawmakers and tell them of your love of playing and desire to keep on playing. Visit the FSTA site for more information (and thanks).
