Last Friday morning, I tweeted out the Tout Wars DFS Picks for the week link and noted how deadly Todd Zola and Vlad Sedler were, causing last week's winner, Lenny Melnick, to respond simply "?"
Lenny, who also stated quite simply "I will win" in the manner of Joe Namath and Muhammad Ali, delivered the goods, squeezing by Sedler by 10.8 points to grab the #2 ticket, while Lord Z grabbed the top spot with a solid 152.5 performance, giving Todd 532.35 points and the goldest ticket of all.
First place for the week, however, went to Rotowire's Tim Heaney, who bagged 166 points powered by Ty Blach's complete game shutout worth 33.05 points. Tim did score big, pairing Blach with Michael Fulmer (14.95), going counter-intuitive on a night when Stephen Strasburg and Clayton Kershaw--both of whom were plays by Zola--were starting.
Sedler had an off-night, finishing a disappointing third for the cycle, along with Mike Beller. Both were top teams going into the final week of the cycle which saw Jeff Boggis reel off 151.5 points, besting my 124.7, totals that placed us fifth and ninth respectively, adding fuel to the power of Jeff's #beatLawr push.
Cycle III begins Friday. You can check the standings here. Log into the site every Friday and we each provide a couple of picks we like for the evening.
For the archivists, the Touts play a daily game against one another every Friday at DraftKings. Lord Zola is the curator of this fine mess, which breaks the season into five four-week cycles, with the two teams garnering the most points over each advancing to a final championship that includes the Tout collecting the most points over all 20 weeks.
Remember to go to the Tout Wars site for our Friday picks. And, tune into the Tout Wars Hour on the FNTSY network, hosted by me, with Justin Mason and featuring Lord Z every Thursday night at 8 PM ET.
