For Derek Carty, it was the ecstasy alright. Fueled by his great play of Robbie Ray last week, Derek led the Fout Wars pack for the second straight week with 154.85 points, assembling a four-week total of 580.05, enough to completely crush second-place finisher Howard Bender (510.05). This is not intended to diminish the @Rotobuzzguy's skills, for Howard placed in the top five two of the four weeks of play, finishing a couple of walks and a steal behind Carty in third this past week with 150.5 total points.
Second place honors for the week went to Vlad Sedler, who came close with 151.5, just not close enough while Phil Hertz got the bronze ring, finishing third for the first month of play with 485 points. Phil also performed well with top five finishes both last week (165.2) and this past weekend with 140.75.
As for me, I was optimistic holding onto ninth place overall going into the weekend, comfortable with my picks, which before I hit the links on Friday morning I double-checked along with the weather. Unfortunately, I did not make an update save and thus no lineup was logged at all, giving me a goose egg for the day, dropping me to last for the week, and suddenly to the 26th slot overall (three behind Jeff Boggis), making the chances to get the high point wild card slot slim to none.
I guess the lesson here is just make sure you do that last save every time you open your roster and tweak it, or doom--and disappointment--will surely follow.
Cycle two begins this coming Friday. You can check the standings here. Log into the site every Friday and we each provide a couple of picks we like for the evening.
For the archivists, the Touts play a daily game against one another every Friday at DraftKings. Lord Zola is the curator of this fine mess, which breaks the season into five four-week cycles, with the two teams garnering the most points over each advancing to a final championship that includes the Tout collecting the most points over all 20 weeks.
