A second straight week in the money has given me the same illusion that I have mastered fantasy golf, just like I have mastered the chip shot. Such is the optimism of golf, that unfortunately breeds cynicism within the very same breath.
But, enough of philosophy. This week we are back to lovely TPC Scottsdale for the Waste Management Phoenix Open, a fun tourney that boasts booming crowds, the 17th hole humungous Peanut Gallery, and a zero impact on the environment after the festivities are completed which collectively make for a cool tourney.
So, let's take a look at the field this week in the Valley of the Sun and don't forget you can duke it out against me and cut your chops playing $3 DraftKings Weekly Hybrid PGA.
Hideki Matsuyama ($11,700): Matsuyama is not only the defending champion, but he has finished all four tourneys entered this season, averaging a killer 102.6 points.
Phil Mickelson ($8400): Phil has struggled a bit of late on the greens, but he is still way good, is averaging 83 points, and hell, he is my favorite guy, not that sentiment should ever play a role in this stuff.
Brendan Steele ($8200): With six straight cuts made and a 92.3 average this season, Steele is another hot hand I am willing to ride.
Pat Perez ($8000): Coming off a fourth at Torrey, and Perez has finished in the top ten four times over his last five tries.
Roberto Castro ($6900): Castro, who has always performed well when I roster him, has five straight cuts under his belt, averaging 70.2 points over two 2017 contests.
Bryce Molder ($6800): He's three-for-three in cuts thus far, but more importantly, TPC Scottsdale is his home course. Sold.
Do remember to keep fantasy open and regulated and fair for all by writing your local lawmakers and tell them of your love of playing and desire to keep on playing. Visit the FSTA site for more information (and thanks).
