With the holiday season over, we can get back to the game action, while not forgetting the conclusion of the World Junior Championships still going on. There are six games on the table tonight, and five that I’d watch of my own free will, and one that I wouldn’t watch at gunpoint, yet there is a DFS gem in that game so let’s get to the breakdown.
Sven Baertschi ($4500, Vancouver Canucks): A nice price for a player who has been pretty hot of late and flying under the radar due to the awful team he is on. With three goals and five points in the Canucks last three games, and 11 points over their last 10, Sven is primed for another box score addition in the Battle for the Basement hosting the Arizona Coyotes tonight. Add him for the great cost confidently, expect results, and spend high on other more reliable commodities.
Tyson Barrie ($4600, Colorado Avalanche): With a goal and six helpers over his five game point streak Barrie is starting to possibly turn around a God awful start to the season. Barrie has been the one ray of light in the current four game losing streak Colorado is suffering through, and at what point is management going to realize that it may not be the coaching and they have lost the roster, which holds some very high draft picks. Still too early to determine, but regardless, get Barrie in your DFS line-ups tonight.
Anthony Mantha ($5000, Detroit Red Wings): Riding a six game point streak, the rookie Mantha is looking like the former 60 goal junior scorer the Wings drafted him as. With five goals and nine points over the past six, the hulking right wing has seen a jump in his ice time and by almost four minutes since the second game of his streak. Top power play minutes gain as well; Anthony and the Wings are 9-6-2 on the road tonight in Anaheim, who is just 4-3-3 in their last 10 games. The Wings just need to keep out of the penalty box tonight with the Ducks second best power play in the NHL right now at 24%.
