We are now two weeks iinto the final cycle of Tout Wars Challenge, as the Touts duke it out for the final three golden tickets to the August 26 Championship.
You can follow along with the Touts here, and in addition you can match up with me at RealTime's Friday "Beat the Experts" contest (note that both contests are held at Real Time Sports) where you can play for free and should you beat me--which these days is not a big deal it seems--you can net a tidy $2 profit.
This week was a toughy for picks, for after my strongest week of the season (64 points) I suddenly find myself in fourth place with an actual shot at scrounging for Oompa Loompas. That means I tried to play it a little conservative, but also make some picks where no one else will go. Because, to a large degree, this week is where the bullet hits the DFS bone.
But, before we delve into the foci of my seemingly neurotic choices, there is some severe weather happening, especially to the east where there is an incredible heat wave, and to the south where there is heat and torrential rain. Philadelphia, Washington, New York, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Boston, and Texas are all under a water threat, and potential winds in San Francisco suggest that pitching and not big flies could dominate.
With respect to my own pitching, I went high and low, gambling on David Price ($9200) facing the D-backs, and then Jon Gray ($6000) twirling against the Phils in their yard.
For hitters, I like Nick Markakis ($3700), who has hit safely in his last six games, along with Ryon Healy ($2800) facing up against newbie Ariel Miranda, both attempts to exploit righty/lefty match-ups as well.
Don't forget, you can hit me up @lawrmichaels and also feel free to comment, flatter, cajole, ridicule, bewitch, bother, and bewilder in the comments section below.
