The Open Championship presented one of my best weeks of fantasy golf, although as usual, my most expensive selection, Jason Day at $12,300, proved to be my least productive. Had I the foresight to simply buy the rights to Henrik Stenson in lieu of Day, and left $3000 on the table, my squad would have finished among the top 50, but, such is the game of golf.
This week, the tour moves to the Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario, Canada where the defending champion is the very same Jason Day, completely rattling my cage and logic. I am steering clear of Day, looking to hit it with a cluster of mid-range selections.
Remember you can play against me and cut your chops playing $3 DraftKings Weekly Hybrid PGA. As for my picks, well, just as I think I might be getting the hang, you know? Sort of like your short game falls in line, but all of a sudden, all your drives slice? Irrespective, here goes.
Danny Lee ($9100): Lee struggled last week in Scotland, but he stays within the Commonwealth this week in Ontario when he puts up 19 of 23 cuts made and an off week after a strong finish in the Scottish Open.
Roberto Castro ($8400): Castro is one of those golfers who seems to like being on my roster, and with 16 cuts made over 20 chances, and a few weeks since the Barbasol Championships, he should be primed for some good rounds.
Kevin Kisner ($8300): A 63.2 point average with 14 of 19 cuts made, Kisner is due for a solid showing.
Bryson DeChambeau ($8100): This guy is so intriguing, it is hard to not want to follow and take a shot. With nine of 13 cuts made, DeChambeau had a hot June with three cuts made, so happy July and let's do it.
Bryce Molder ($8100): Having made 12 of 19 cuts, Molder has been solid with a top 25 finish in four of his last five tourneys.
William McGirt ($7700): McGirt missed the Open Championship by a measly stroke, but he still has done pretty well on the tour with 15 cuts made over 21 tries and a 64.2 point average.
