Need a sneaky cheap second pitcher option for Monday? If so, look at San Diego lefty Christian Friedrich at St. Louis. The Cardinals are just 12-17 against left-handed pitching this season and were stumped by two Marlins lefty starters over the weekend. Friedrich is averaging over nine points per start this season and his $5000 price tag should free up money to load up on hitting.
For my spotlight hitter today, I stay in the same contest for Padres outfielder Matt Kemp ($5400). The 31-year-old is coming off a big weekend during which he gored first-place San Francisco pitching for two home runs and three RBI as part of a spurt that may continue Monday night against Cardinals righty Mike Leake.
