Heading into the holiday weekend, the tour returns to the Midwest and Akron, Ohio, home of the Pretenders, Devo, and the World Golf Championships and Bridgestone Invitational held at the Firestone Golf Club in Akron.
Again I tried to split the difference this week, looking at cuts, looking at solid players, as well as guys who were hot. Note that at some point we will have to look at my picks thus far, who did, and who played all weekend and see what we can derive.
For now, remember that you can play against me and cut your chops playing $3 DraftKings Weekly Hybrid PGA and do have a great and safe Fourth of July.
Jim Furyk ($9500): Furyk's price tag has crept up over the weeks, and Firestone is one of his best plays. Banking upon that and the four of seven cuts to bring me good numbers through Sunday.
Phil Mickelson ($8900): It almost seems sacrilegious to me not to select Phil, although I know not why. Maybe it is because he is so steady, and just keeps delivering a la David Ortiz. Plus, Phil not only delivers, he is fun to root for and that is part of what this is about, right?
Charl Schwartzel ($8600): 13 of 14 making cuts with a 78.1 point average.
Daniel Berger ($8200): Struggles at the end of the Open masked Berger's improved play, including his St. Jude win, so I am all in with a guy who has made 15 of 18 cuts this year.
Danny Lee ($7400): Lee heads into the Bridgestone having made seven cuts in a row.
Brandt Snedeker ($7200): Played well enough at the Open, though his stroke has been off lately. Still, 10 of 18 cuts made and Snedeker is one of those guys who surprises.
Do remember to keep fantasy open and regulated and fair for all by writing your local lawmakers and tell them of your love of playing and desire to keep on playing. Visit the FSTA site for more information (and thanks).
By the way, don't forget to check out our deal with DraftKings where you get a lot of good baseball stuff from us along with some from DraftKings. Hit the link below for details.
