After an awful opening to the 2016 season, Matt Cain made three consecutive strong starts for the Giants last month before suffering a hamstring injury. Working his way back after a relief appearance last week, the veteran right hander has been cleared to make Monday’s start against Milwaukee at home. At just $5100, Cain is an ideal money-saving second starter to pair with Max Scherzer or Zack Greinke.
Wil Myers and the Padres face lefty Wei-Yin Chen and the Marlins at home Monday night. In 11 June contests, the outfielder is batting .395 with six home runs and 15 RBI and has been equally proficient against left-handed and right-handed pitching this season. Despite his hot streak, Myers remains a bargain at just $4300.
