MLB has split the Saturday slate with nine day games and six night games. With many of the stud pitchers going on Friday, we have to look a little deeper for pitching options on Saturday.
On the afternoon slate, Jake Arrieta ($13,500) vs. Atlanta is an obvious choice but he is very expensive. For $3.1k less, I prefer Chris Archer ($10,400). Dan Straily ($7,300) has been a pleasant surprise for the Reds. On the hitting side, I like the White Sox lefties (Adam Eaton $4,200 and Melky Cabrera $3,500) against Chris Young in addition to as many Rockies as you can fit. A.J. Pierzynski ($2,300) is 8-for-14 with two home runs against Arrieta.
In the evening, Jose Fernandez ($13,600) has been pitching as well as Clayton Kershaw and there is no reason to pass on him. James Paxton ($7,400) might be putting it together for the Mariners and his price is still attractive. Load up on Cardinals going against Francisco Liriano with Matt Carpenter ($4,800), Matt Holliday ($4,000) and Jhonny Peralta (4 career HR vs. Liriano).
