Today, for the first time this year, I am going with Clayton Kershaw ($9,900) as my first starting pitcher. I stayed away from the high priced Kershaw for too long.
There are several good choices for the second hurler: Madison Bumgarner ($9,500) is a strong possibility, but I prefer starters who have home-field advantage. It is a toss-up between Marcus Stroman ($8,100) and Jaime Garcia ($6,900). I ended up with Garcia because he is facing Chad Bettis while Stroman is going against Chris Archer, a much stronger opponent.
As for the offense, I like hitters who are currently hot. Right now, both Xander Bogaerts ($5,300), who hit .441 the last seven days, and Jackie Bradley Jr. ($4,500), who hit an even better .469 in the same period, fit that description.
