After a couple of nice Saturday split slates on DraftKings, I find the Saturday early slate unattractive and the evening slate void of pitchers.
There are six games on the early slate, with high rain chances in the Nationals-Cardinals and Braves-Cubs games. Both big starters come with question marks. Jacob deGrom ($10,800) had only three strikeouts in his most recent start. Chris Archer ($10,100) has scored 2.1, 14, 3.2 and 36 points. Not exactly the model of consistency for the price.
In the evening slate, Francisco Liriano ($9,900) leads the way and it is the first day I can recall where the most expensive pitcher is under $10,000. Liriano would be the clear first choice, but rain threatens the game. I am going to look to load up on hitters and go cheap on pitchers. Consider stacking the Diamondbacks infield against lefty Chris Rusin and the Pirates outfield against Alfredo Simon. Paul Goldschmidt ($5400) and Andrew McCutchen ($4900) look like must-haves. The pitching choices make me nervous and I am not sure I can watch them – Trevor Bauer ($8,500) and Rick Porcello ($8,200) are my choices.
