Sunday 21st Jan 2018

It is Tuesday and that means I am ready to take you on at the Mastersball Daily 50-50 GPP contest with $135 in prizes available for just a $5 entry fee. So, who do I like?

Pitchers are immensely important in DFS, so let’s begin with the starters. There is no doubt in my mind that selecting Stephen Strasburg ($8,900) at home playing against the Braves is a must.

There's good news and bad news about the second pitcher. The good news is there are no expensive must-starts today who will take your salary away from the hitters. For the bad news, see the good news. The question then is who to pick up. The second hurler is a toss-up between Gio Gonzalez ($7,000) at home and going against the Braves or Mike Fiers ($7,000), playing at Minute Maid Park and dueling with Kris Medlen.

The hitters are also a dilemma this early in the season. Some players are simply late bloomers, still cold at this point. Some begun the season hot. Colby Rasmus ($4,000) is both hot right now and inexpensive. See if you can squeeze in Jose Altuve ($5,600), salary ceiling permitting.

In addition, the Phillies’ Charlie Morton was just awful last week. We should load up on San Diego Padres hitters like Matt Kemp ($5,100) or Cory Spangenberg ($3,700), who should do well against him.

Don't forget that you can indeed match up against the Mastersballers at RealTime Sports and follow me on Twitter @varnica123.
