This is an atypical Monday, as a number of home openers with afternoon starts leave an evening slate of just seven games. There are still plenty of opportunities to cash in on the night’s action, however.
As always, I will be ready to take you on from my regular spot at RealTime Fantasy Sports - the Mastersball Daily 50-50 GPP contest with $135 in prizes available for just a $5 entry fee. Do not delay joining, as the Mastersball contests will again be very popular in 2016.
Even though he is the most expensive pitcher on the board, it is impossible to pass up Max Scherzer ($9800) at home against the feeble Braves, who seemed destined to remain winless for at least one more day. To make matters worse, over the weekend, Atlanta lost its leadoff man, Ender Inciarte, to the disabled list.
Among hitters, I especially like red-hot second baseman Robinson Cano ($5300), who draws Colby Lewis and the Rangers at home. It is the 36-year-old Lewis’ second start against the Mariners this season. Last time out, Cano took him deep. Given Lewis’ ongoing weakness versus left-handed hitters, I could easily see it happening again Monday night.
