Metamorphosis

Marshawn Lynch: The Beast was one of a kind, and the Cal graduate (I still wear my #11 t-shirt from time-to-time) has called it quits, retiring. Good for him.

Peyton Manning: Then there is the sheriff, also laying down his helmet, leaving us on top with a Super Bowl win in his pocket. Good show, Peyton.

Calvin Johnson: And finally, Megatron also ends his NFL career after being a dominant force for nine years.

Joe Alasky: Vocal heir apparent to Mel Blanc, Alasky assumed the Looney Tunes voices of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck following the passing of the original Blanc.

Linus Maurer: Charles Shultz cartoon compatriot, and the basis for the "Peanuts" character, Linus.

Dan Hicks: Bay Area tunesmith and leader of "Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks," Hicks was a great and funny performer who headed a fun little band.

Dan Gerson: Disney writer, who penned "Monsters Inc."

Christy O'Donnell: Activist, and voice of the right to die in California, at age 47, of lung cancer.
