Welcome to "Roto-Bituaries," which we hope will evolve both into a daily review and discussion of who is hot, who is hurt, and who is suspended, focusing on fantasy sports, but noting a lot of goofy things happen all over the planet.

That means the idea is to provide some information that helps you make informed decisions when setting your daily or weekly rosters, but as important, to have some fun (because games are indeed fun).

But, that also means things will be a bit fluid here as the virtual space develops some personality.

So, it is Week 1 for the NFL, with the baseball season streaming to an end and what do we see?

Injuries

Questions arise around Mike Evans and Michael Floyd, along with Tre Mason and Todd Gurley, although among the four, Floyd is probable while the other three are dealing with leg injuries meaning even if they start, iffy is the performance word. Note that Evans and Mason are both listed as active, but it also means Benny Cunningham becomes a reasonable play facing the Redskins. I would sit C.J. Spiller as well.

In Cleveland Josh McCown is out with a concussion and Johnny Manziel is probable with a hand ding, and that means a couple of things. First, neither is worth a play under any circumstances, and second, using the Tennessee defense against the Browns offense could pay dividends..

We all know Dez Bryant is down for 2-3 months, with Victor Cruz (knee) still out as is Dwayne Bowe and Julius Thomas.

On the limited list are Chris Ivory as is T.Y. Hilton (who is so hard to sit) but since both are Monday plays, keep an eye on the updates as both will likely be ready. On the other hand, Toby Gerhart is questionable as is LeSean McCoy and they are probably better on your bench this week..

On the probable side, Derek Carr, Randall Cobb, and Justin Forsett, but again, if you have an alternative, go elsewhere till these guys shows us they are worthy of a start.

Rosters

Last week I warned about Seattle missing Kam Chancellor, and well, both the Seattle and Carolina defenses (who are without Luke Kuechly) are clearly not as dominant without those two respective players.

Milestones

Barry Zito was called back up for the Athletics, but despite the team placing starter Jesse Chavez on the 60-day DL, don't expect a lot of the former Cy Young winner. Zito will get a few gratutitous innings. Still, he remains one of the most interesting players on the planet.

Tiger Woods has not been a danger on the PGA tour for several years now, and he is out for the remainder of the tour as a result of back surgery. Whatever else be said, Tiger is still Tiger.

Again, remember you can play against us at the Mastersball 50-team 50/50 Challenge and you can follow me @lawrmichaels.
