Summer is through, kids are back to school, but the Mastersball 50/50 Challenge keeps on rolling and I am here today covering for my mate Pasko, who is under the weather (too many wings at the Labor Day BBQ?).
There are a lot of good pitchers twirling today, but I need to go with as much of a sure thing as I can to get back on a winning track, so I am taking Clayton Kershaw ($9900), who has been unstoppable lately, going against the Bums cross-town rivals to start. Then, Cole Hamels ($8400) and the Rangers are taking on the erratic Mariners, so ideally that will be the foundation for a solid squad today.
For hitters, I am trying a couple of Oakland right-handed hitters--Josh Phegley ($3300) and Mark Canha ($4300), both of whom homered over the weekend--facing former Athletic Scott Kazmir. On the higher priced side, Troy Tulowitzki ($4900) facing the young, talented, but learning Henry Owens seems like a safe bet.
Showers are expected in Boston, Kansas City, and Chicago, but ideally nothing to disrupt much play as the season steams forth.
