After a couple of miserable days of picks thanks to some pitching break-downs at the Mastersball 50/50 Challenge I am more than ready to chill today, and try to simply pick quietly and carefully.
Things got dicey earlier in the week when I gambled on Jeff Locke (he was facing the Brewers, who statistically could not hit leftties) and took a collar, followed by yesterday's meltdown. That was because I targeted Joe Ross against the struggling Braves, and the Washington hurler was set to start when I checked, and then scrambled off 40 miles for an 8:50 tee time. But, by the time I got home and games had started, Ross had been pushed back to today, giving me a total of -1.34 pitching points yesterday.
I seek redemption, so once again I am going Ross ( at $7400) pairing him with Dallas Keuchel ($9200) pitching against the Twins at home.
As for hitters it is hard to ignore Ryan Zimmerman ($4300) who is .400-7-22 over his last ten games, but I am also going with the Coors factor, plating Brandon Crawford ($4500) and Angel Pagan ($3400) facing the iffy Yohan Flande (11 homers over 55.3 innings).
So, the skies look clear all this holiday weekend Sunday, so make sure you play against the other Mastersballers and me at Fantasy Score and follow me @lawrmichaels
