On Thursday, I will be ready to take you on from my regular spot - the Mastersball Daily 50-50 GPP contest with $135 in prizes available for just a $5 entry fee. Do not delay joining, as the Mastersball contests continue to fill up quickly.

Here are a couple of my picks.

The evening pitching options include no starters over $8500, so there is no clear favorite. I am staying away from the top two, the Francisco Liriano-Lance Lynn matchup in St. Louis, instead casting my lot with the number three option, Stephen Strasburg ($8000). Those who remember how the Nationals’ star’s first unlucky 13 starts went may be surprised, but I liked what I saw in his first game back from the disabled list. Last Saturday, Strasburg carved up the Rockies with one run allowed on three hits and 12 strikeouts over seven innings. One caution is that he is facing the Giants on the road, but I still like the pick.

NOTE that Sonny Gray has been scratched as a starter today due to back spasms, and that Jesse Chavez has moved up in the rotation for the day.

Is there any hotter hitter in the game right now than Michael Brantley ($5600)? The Cleveland outfielder has six multi-hit games in his last seven, including five doubles, five RBI and six runs scored over the last four nights. The left-handed hitting Brantley does more damage against right-handers and his Thursday opposition is Yankees’ righty Nathan Eovaldi at home. Book it!
