Madison Bumgarner ($9500) and Zack Greinke ($9800) are inviting, but expensive. Taylor Jungmann ($6600) and Taijuan Walker ($5900) are valid and much cheaper alternatives. Maybe a combination of the four is the best solution to stay under the budget ceiling. I am leaning towards the Bumgarner/Walker duo.
On the hitters’ side, Yoenis Cespedes ($5400) and Nelson Cruz ($6200) are tempting, but it will be difficult to fit both within the budget constraints. A viable solution is to couple one of them with inexpensive players like Danny Valencia ($3700), who has been quite productive since he has joined the Oakland A’s recently. Two other relatively inexpensive hitters who have done exceedingly well this past week are near namesakes Chris Davis ($5000) and Khris Davis ($4900). I am adding Ben Zobrist ($4300) to complement a well-rounded team.
Note that rain is expected in Cleveland.
