We have a short seven-game slate for the FantasyScore Challenge, Monday. On the pitching side, Chris Sale ($9400) and Johnny Cueto ($9300) head up the list. Sale continues to rack up the strikeouts but is coming off back-to-back games allowing seven earned runs. Cueto only struck out two Tigers in his Royals debut last week and now he faces those same Tigers again. On the cheaper side, the Nationals' Gio Gonzalez ($6900) has spun together seven straight starts allowing two or fewer runs. Jon Niese ($6700) has been good as of late, short one start against the Dodgers. The new Mets offense improves his chances of earning a win. I am going to start with Gio and Niese to see what kind of team I can build and then explore using Cueto for Niese.
On the hitting side, the Mariners' Nelson Cruz ($6200) continues on a tear. Cruz has seven multi-hit games in his past nine, including seven home runs. Equally as hot as Cruz is the Orioles' Chris Davis ($4700). Davis has hit nine home runs and driven in 25 runs in his past 17 games.
