Week 2 of the final sequence of the Tout Wars Daily contest at FanDuel, and I have a little ground to pick up, being about 40 points below the leaders, so I am making a gamble pitching move on a day when there are more great pitching choices than, as we used to say, Carters had little liver pills.
I did choose to go with Lance Lynn ($9300), going against the Brewers and their somewhat paltry .293 OBP versus right-handers, rather than the higher-priced Clayton Kershaw ($13,400) and Gerrit Cole ($10,500), who are facing one another, or Sonny Gray ($10,300).
As for hitters, I do like the high on-base guys (a walk is always a good starting point), so Carlos Santana ($3000) is a nice moderately priced shot at that.
Finally, I do need to check the late rosters to see if Asdrubal Cabrera ($3400) is in the lineup following his close encounter with a ball yesterday (he has been cleared to play), but the switch-hitting shortstop has indeed been smoking hot, hitting .480-1-4 this past week.
It was crunch time for the July Tout Wars, now it is crunch month for the Touts, who have yet to qualify for the final September tournament with only three slots left to gain entrance.
