On Thursday, I will be ready to take you on from my regular spot - the Mastersball Daily 50-50 GPP contest with $135 in prizes available for just a $5 entry fee. Do not delay joining, as the Mastersball contests continue to be very popular.
Here are a couple of my picks.
The evening pitching options are sparse, to say the least. Yet, there are still some good choices. Leading the way is the Cubs’ Jason Hammel ($8500), who faces the Giants at Wrigley Field, where his lifetime ERA is 2.74. In an oddity, Hammel has a career 3.07 ERA versus San Francisco, but no wins in nine starts. That may change tonight.
For a bargain play in the outfield, consider Nick Markakis ($3400) of Atlanta. Yes, he had been injured, but when healthy, he can hit. Exhibit A is Markakis’ current 12-game hitting streak, second longest in MLB. The left-handed hitter and the Braves draw unexciting rookie right-hander Jose Urena of Miami at home Thursday night. Markakis’ OPS is 100 points higher against righties this season, making him an especially promising play.
