On Thursday, I will be ready to take you on from my regular spot - the Mastersball Daily 50-50 GPP contest with $135 in prizes available for just a $5 entry fee. Do not delay joining, as the Mastersball contests continue to be very popular.
Here are a couple of my picks.
It is a big day for pitching, with some tantalizing choices in the day games, but some nice matchups in our evening contest, too. Among the latter is Max Scherzer ($9800) taking on Manny Banuelos ($3500) in the latter’s MLB debut and Tyson Ross ($6900) drawing the Matt Holliday-less Cardinals offense. I am taking Ross, as the Pads’ lineup, nothing to brag about either, gets to face a minor-league call-up in lefty Tim Cooney at Busch Stadium. In 15 career innings vs. St. Louis, Ross has a 2.40 ERA.
OK, it is not a stretch to pick Josh Donaldson ($6000) seven days a week, but with the recent surge by Nolan Arenado ($6100), the Jay’s third sacker almost looks like a bargain in comparison. Donaldson, with a career .966 OPS against left-handed pitching, draws Red Sox lefty Wade Miley at home. This is a night to spend the big bucks on Donaldson and I am in!
