OK, I don't remember being this nervous about the boxes since the last day of the 2009 season when the AL Tout Wars title was on the line.
As of today, I do lead the May contest by nine points over Lenny Melnick (See the leaderboard) at the FanDuel contest, but again I am trying to tread the fine line between playing the smart moves and not being caught flatfooted.
Since pitching is everything, I had narrowed things down to Francisco Liriano ($9100) in San Diego and Cole Hamels ($9800) at home against the Rockies, and after some discussion with the DFS genius Lord Z settled on Hamels, largely because the Rockies cannot hit Southpaws.
In trying to spread the wealth, I like a couple of Athletics (Ben Zobrist, $3000 and Marcus Semien, $2900) against lefty Chris Capuano, and similarly like Trevor Plouffe ($2900) at home against another lefty, Mark Buehrle, while looking at Kole Calhoun ($2800) against Anibal Sanchez, who has allowed 11 homers and a 6.12 ERA against opposing batters.
I guess I am lucky in that my band, The BileTones, is playing a show tonight and that will distract me from scoreboard watching (if you are in the Bay Area, we are playing Rooster's Roadhouse at 1700 Clement, in Alameda, Ca, from roughly 8-10 PM and love a crowd!).
