On Thursday, I will be ready to take you on from my regular spot - the Mastersball Daily 50-50 GPP contest with $135 in prizes available for just a $5 entry fee. I’ve finished first and fourth in the last two Thursdays and am looking to continue my recent success.
Do not delay joining, as the Mastersball contests continue to quickly fill up each day.
Here are a few of my picks.
On the pitching side, there are some nice choices. Many will take the easy route with the top arm on the board in red-hot Corey Kluber at $8800. It would be difficult to argue with them. However, I saved a few bucks going with an equally-scorching hurler in Atlanta’s Shelby Miller at $8100 and teamed him with one of MLB’s quietest successes of 2015, Pittsburgh’s A.J. Burnett, who has a 1.37 ERA to date. The latter, a $7500 buy, gets a start in San Diego tonight. Despite all their off-season upgrades, the Padres are currently 10th of 15 NL squads with a .682 team OPS.
Offensively, I like Detroit’s Rajai Davis as a value selection at $3500. Though the outfielder has the bad side of a platoon with Anthony Gose this season, the Tigers draw a lefty Thursday evening in C.J. Wilson, so Davis should be in manager Brad Ausmus’ lineup. The Angels’ starter seems vulnerable, having been rocked for four runs in each of his two most recent outings.
