If the post-Memorial Day depression is keeping you blue, join FantasyScore Mastersball 50/50 Challenge.  It could be the right medicine to perk you up.

With a full slate of MLB games, one would think that selecting pitchers today would require little effort. Sadly, I do not think that today is the day of easy picking. My preference has been to go with home teams. Among those playing at home today, I only like David Price ($8900) and Jacob DeGrom ($7300).

Beyond that, looking at recent results, Madison Bumgarner ($8500) has done quite well and is going against Matt Garza, who has been less than stellar this season. That said, Bumgarner is on the road in Milwaukee.

Unfortunately, all three are quite expensive. However, today appears to be the day for extravagant spending on pitchers.

As far as the hitters, ignoring all else but the recent hot streaks, Prince Fielder ($4600) and most Rangers have been torrid hot. Hunter Pence ($4600) has been on a tear since returning from the DL. Torii Hunter ($4300) has at least one hit in his last four games and Brian Dozier ($4900), hitting at the top of the Twins lineup, is long removed from his early troubles.

These four batters are not excessively expensive. When added to two of the above three pitchers, they could make a well-rounded team.

Absolutely, I cannot agree more. This is a topic though that should not be ignored, especially in DFS. That's my reason for bringing it up.

I do agree a hitter in the zone is hard to ignore, but I prefer the left/right matchup first and against whom, then look at the seemingly iffier stuff.

Thank you for noticing the typo: David Price is indeed at Oakland, not @home.

As far as the hot streak vs all else, today I have decided to go with he human factor to see how does that work. It has come to my attention that baseball players are human, a bundle of nerves and washed in hormones. Wrong/Right about the hot streak? We will find out, but IMHO it should not be completely ignored.

Price is on the road, at Oakland. Kershaw's home, and a huge favorite, but expensive.

Do you think recent hot streaks outweighs other factors, in selecting hitters? I've been focusing more on finding lefty vs righty and righty vs lefty matchups against average and poor pitchers.

Another guy doing great right now: Giants' SS Brandon Crawford ($4,200)
