For Thursday, you can find me in my regular spot - the Mastersball Daily 50-50 GPP contest with $135 in prizes available for just a $5 entry fee. Do not delay if you want to join as the Mastersball contests continue to quickly fill up each day.
Here are a few of my picks.
On the pitching side, I am going for the top available options.
The highest-priced pitcher of the day at $8900 is Cincinnati’s Johnny Cueto. What is not to like? He is effective (8.2 strikeouts per nine, 2.98 ERA), durable (over seven innings per start) and is taking on a Giants team against which he has a 1.98 career ERA in five starts.Tyson Ross is an under-the-radar fantasy standout. Though his 1-3 record and 3.98 ERA hardly catches one’s eye, the lack of run support continues in San Diego despite all those high-profile trades over the winter. Ross is fanning 10.6 batters per nine this season, though the right-hander does have to face the Washington Nationals. At least it will be at home at Petco Park. Spend the $6800.
Adrian Gonzalez ($5700) has been gold this season against both left-handed and right-handed pitching and I like it to continue. He draws the Rockies’ Chad Bettis (career 6.88 ERA) at Dodger Stadium, where he is batting .384 and has launched six of his nine home runs.
