So, Week 1 of the Tout Wars Fan Duel is history.
What the folks at Fan Duel have done in partnership with Tout Wars is to create a weekly challenge among the 65-odd Tout Warriors. We can set rosters each Friday for games that night. In addition to a cash prize for winning, the top team also advances to an August-to-end-of-season tournament which will see the weekly winners duke it out for top dog spot in the 2015 Challenge.
Among the 35 participants last week (we can opt to play every week, or occassionally, however to keep playing after August, we must win, as noted), I placed a lowly 20th with a team that was sparked by Kevin Kiermaier, then dragged down by like cheap gambles C.J. Cron and Brandon Crawford.
A couple of my choices for tonight are the obvious, Bryce Harper ($4200), playing at home against a questionable Phillies team starting Sean O'Sullivan, and that just sounds like fun if you are a Nationals batter in general.
Second, I am taking a chance on Matt Adams ($3300) against the Reds and Johnny Cueto. Adams did get one of four hits--a homer--off of Cueto last week, and the Cincy hurler has not fared so well at new Busch, with a 2-3, 5.80 record over nine starts. I think Adams breaks out of his .167-1-2 doldrums. Well, I hope he does.
