Each week, your friends at Mastersball will post the results of the weekly LABR FAAB run, featuring the winning bid as well a the runner-up bids. There are three LABR leagues, a 12-team AL only, 12-team NL only and 15-team Mixed League. You can see the complete standings for each league by clicking on the appropriate heading, located just under each player photo.
Included with each league report will be commentary from a Mastersball staff member participating in that league. We invite you to ask questions and post comments at the bottom of the report.
All contingency bids for awarded players are included. Sometimes, this bid is tied to a player that the owner received, so at times the bid amount is larger than the winning bid. We are including it to provide as much information and context as possible with each report.

Perry Van Hook's Commentary.
Well with six dollars remaining I am down to just about a dollar per bid week unless something was really interesting and then I likely wouldn’t have enough to win the bid.
This week I just wanted a $1 starter to replace Anibal Sanchez (my DL list with Sanchez and Eaton now back up to five). I ended did get my first choice of Esmil Rogers (NYY) over Nick Tepesch (TEX). Actually many years ago I was impressed with Rogers’ arm but pitching in Toronto was very tough on a young thrower who didn’t have enough command. He looked much better in his start this week, so the Yankees and I have slim hopes.
The high bids for the week were an odd couple. Zach Walters traded to the Indians by the Nationals and now back up from the minors with both David Murphy and Nick Swisher landing on the DL on Sunday went for $7 to league leader Dave Adler of Baseball HQ. Dave is not only atop the standings but going into tonight had the most FAAB. Walters can hit so with enough at bats should fill in nicely. The other half was Ichiro Suzuki, sometimes Yankee outfielder who has hung in there and now has ten stolen bases to support his decent batting average for Colton & The Wolfman.
Here's the standings and FAAB data for AL LABR.
|4||USA TODAY Sports||$0||77.5|
|5||Winning Fantasy Baseball||$3||76|
|7||Colton & The Wolfman||$5||58.5|
Baseball HQ is in a very good spot but KFFL can make it interesing if they get an impact player soon. Keep in mind LABR does not allow $0 bids which is interesting since 4 teams are already maxed out.

Lawr Michaels' Commentary
The last minute search for an arm--it seems any live one--continued in NL LABR this week with ESPN's Eric Karabell outlasting three other bids when dropping $23 for Mike Friers.
Add in shaky quasi journeymen hurlers Travis Wood (NFBC/STATS Greg Ambrosius and Shawn Childs) for a buck, and the ever shaky David Buchanan (a buck unchallenged to Derek van Riper of Rotowire) and that shows the level of hope and frustration associated with trying to boost some pitching points this time of the season.
Rotoexpert Lenny Melnick nabbed Arizona corner guy Jacob Lamb for $13 to lead the expensive position player bids, besting four $1 and one $9 chances, which USA Today's Steve Gardner won the rights to the Reds Kristopher Negronfor $2, outfoxing no fewer than five $1 crapshoots for the middle infielder.
Finishing off, NFBC/STATS also grabbed Miguel Rojas for a buck, while the Sandlot Shrink's Bob Radomski took a chance on backstop Mike McKenry and Doug Dennis of BBHQ did the same with some hopes of production from Jeff Baker, all also for a dollar.
And now the NL data...
|3||Colton & The Wolfman||$7||76|
|5||ESPN - Karabell||$69||69.5|
|6||USA TODAY Sports||$21||69|
|7||RotoWire - DVR||$2||67|
This could get interesting as the Rotoexperts added Lamb this week and are in a great spot to add another piece while the Inside Edge likely has 3 $1 bids left. A lot will depend in whether Sandlot Shrick continues to be engaged. Presently ESPN has to bid 40 to freeze RotoExperts out but if Shrink is quiet, Experts get the second dibs. This will be fun to follow.

Todd Zola's Commentary
We've talked in the past that looking at bids can help discern team needs. I've got Carlos Ruiz sitting on my reserve -- I probably could have gotten something for him in a deal to help fill in another weak spot.
