Saturday night’s AFL matchup of the Scottsdale Scorpions at the Surprise Saguaros at 5:10 PT (8:10 ET) will be televised live on the MLB Network (also streamed live by Paul Severino and Tom Verducci will broadcast from Surprise Stadium with both teams in the hunt to win their respective divisions and get to the LCG which will also be broadcast live the following Saturday afternoon.

Scottsdale is just a game and a half back of the Salt River Rafters with both teams losing on Friday afternoon. Surprise will host West division leading Peoria on Friday night and be just a game and a half back if they win.

Friday afternoon the Phoenix Desert Dogs beat Scottsdale 4-3 when they scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning when Kevin Kiermaier (OF, TB) singled home Richie Shaffer who had doubled with two out off Dellin Betances (RHP, NYY). Betances who was throwing hard had struck out four of the first five batters to face him before the back to back hits.

Starting pitchers for Saturday night’s game in Surprise are listed as Kyle Kaminska (RHP, PIT) who is 2-1 sporting a 1.96 ERA in the fall league against Seth Blair (RHP, STL) who is 2-0 with a 1.04 ERA.
